Theorical and methodological contributions on research in cultural and natural patrimony for tourism in Sarapiquí, Costa Rica

The Cultural Tourism confronts challenges when it comes to the terms of investigations and the ways for the generations of new knowledge. The multidisciplinary approach recurs to the Social Sciences to recognize characterize and systematize information, concerning to the cultural and natural resources, from rural community contexts, where they develop tourist and recreational activities, for its empowerment.

The experience of elaborating a methodology for this purpose; under the framework of the course ―Cultural Heritage Management 2017‖ by the National University, Costa Rica, Northern Huetar and Caribbean Region, located in the Sarapiquí Canton, it proposes, from the sociological perspective of Symbolic Interactionism, the concepts of Cultural Tourism and Material Patrimony, Immaterial and Natural; engaging with assertiveness and strictness, the cultural-natural-tourist richness, present in the daily life of this communities, for the use of the information and knowledge produce for future local tourism projects.

As a product of this process, the methodological validation was subsequently executed, by members of the academic community and local actors of from Los Ángeles, Cureña District, giving as a result the ―Inventory of cultural and natural resources for tourism, from the community of Los Ángeles‖, an input of great value for their tourist development.
