Management model for sustainable cultural tourism: a bet for Manizales, Clombia

Cultural tourism in Colombia has been booming with indicators of growth in local and national development. Tourism organizations are within this progress, but how do they act to sustain both tangible and intangible cultural expressions and social and environmental practices within the value chain? Given the foregoing, it is necessary to study a management model that will serve as a mediator between the business perspective and the cultural approach through direct strategies and practices that allow the tourism organizations to project to the economic development and towards sustainable cultural tourism. Therefore, the objective of this study is to identify the categories involved in the design of management model for sustainable cultural tourism in the city of Manizales, Colombia. To carry out research (1), the management models applicable to sustainable cultural tourism are identified through a review of scientific literature. The results show the analysis of the best practices of management of the cultural tourism and establish the categories that intervene in the design of an appropriate model for the management of the sustainable cultural tourism. In practical terms, researchers and interested in cultural tourism will be able to know the categories that influence the tourism operation to make the management of the organizations more efficient around the sustainability of cultural tourism.
