A thematic park proposal oriented to transport and comunications in the South East of the Argentinian Patagonia

In the southwest of the Patagonia Austral Argentina is the Carboniferous Basin Region of Rio Turbio. Since the middle of the nineteenth century, this territory has received colonists and pioneers through the most diverse routes and paths: the fjords of the Pacific, the plains of Diana, the rivers of the area, routes of incipient roads and ways and the railway branch.

The Second World War and the subsequent fuel crisis motivated the installation and development of Yacimientos Carboníferos Fiscales company (YCF) linked to the establishment of a mining village in 1942 and to its subsequent historical development, since it received the mining cultural profile it has nowdays into a natural landscape.

The Unidad Academica Rio Turbio (UART) of the National University of Southern Patagonia (UNPA) has a property of 6.5 hectares in a strategic area with concrete possibilities to the installation of a Thematic Park on Communications and Transportation, it is located about a thousand meters to the local airport, at 384 Km of the National Route 40(RN 40) and it is boundary as limit in the back by the tracks of the Industrial Iron Branch(RFIRT) and the Turbio River.

The purpose of this work is present the historical evolution of transport in the area and revalue this local heritage which is dispersed, proposing the development of an attraction that promotes the local development, this the framework will be on a sustainable tourism.
