Importance of quality management hospitality in heritage of Spain

Abstract

This article discusses the differences in total number of visitors between regions (Autonomous Communities) which include world heritage cities and other which do not. We aim at demonstrating the importance of high quality hotel management for regions with world heritage cities. To this effect, we begin with a descriptive study on the total number of travelers to such communities. Specifically, we undertake a nonparametric statistics study, because of data distribution, in order to detect whether there are differences between these two groups of independent population. The differences we found are presented statistically and graphically. We conclude that a high quality hotel management in world heritage cities in Spain is critical to protect the value of the intangible asset embodied in the declaration by UNESCO as a world heritage site. A high quality hotel management contributes to the development, maintenance and enhancement of the intangible so that they continue to receive, and ideally increase, the total number of visitors.
